Эхо, производимое двойными отраженными сигналами и мешающее слушателю, приемному оборудованию данных в диапазоне тональных частот и т. д. При наличии небольшой задержки по отношению к полезному сигналу (менее примерно 3 мс) эхо слушающего в телефонии может создавать гулкость. При передаче сигналов данных в диапазоне тональных частот эхо слушающего может быть причиной ошибок по битам и, в любом случае, ограничивает запас в отношении других помех (МСЭ-Т P.10/ G.100).
